Q: Is metal mesh's density good enough to store onions, garlic or dusty potatoes? I mean, would there be a lot of dust falling out out of the drawers?

The density is very good and strong enough to hold onions, garlic and potatoes, although some dust from the potatoes would drop through. Why not stand it on something like foil, then the dust can be easily removed. I love mine and store lots of cleaning products in it.

Q: Does the top drawer slide forward like the bottom one? Hard to tell from the images.

Yes, the both slide out very smoothly.

Q: Can you stand up a bottle of Domestos in the lower drawer? Just want to make sure it has enough clearance in practice. Thanks in advance for your help

No , definitely not. He unit is only 30 cm high and 18cm wide . Hight between bottom and top shelf approx 17cm. Not very stable if not screwed down. Although I keep it for keeping package items in, I'm not over impressed with it ,
