So my printer had been nagging me to replace the toner for a while and I ordered this from Amazon. So far it holds up fine and the print quality is excellent. #1 this is a genuine product and will print at high resolution with not toner spillage or mess. #2 this is easy to replace. #3 I expect this to work for a long time. It has been several months and I have had no issues.A. I do not like that Brother's toner forces you to replace the toner before it has really run down all the way. My old cartridge still had some good life in it. I did the usually take the old cartridge out shake it left and right and replaced it but after a day or two, the printer again would be complaining about low toner. Even though print quality was fine.B. It can be a coin toss if "genuine" toner is better than either a refurbish or an after market replacement. I've found the latter tend to be more uneven in toner deposition and can be more messy. I also with another printer had a bad experience with aftermarket toner "puking" inside the laser printer and basically causing me to replace the printer sooner than I had planned.C. Genuine Brother brand toner is overpriced. This is a commodity item and there really is not any additional explicit additional warranty with using the name brand.Basically, I paid the price premium for the name brand and so far this continues print quality B/W and grayscale laser output for me.

So in opinion the reason you spend 60dollars plus tax instead of wasting your time trying all of the other substitution brands is for this one reason. Here was the brothers cartridge and I opened it and placed it in the machine and printed out one page which was PERFECT. Those other brands take much more then the first print to settle them down.Pros: Worth every penny. Con: -NOTHING. You get what you pay for.

I always buy the brand name. Whenever I have used other vendors, it has always resulted in problems with the printer. You save money over the long run since you get more pages and it runs cleaner in the printer.
