Don't soak this, its made of different sheets of wood fitted together. For the price point it's a wonderful purchase and it's as simple as not letting micro plastics leech into your food.If you're looking for a more heavy duty board, go for the more expensive hardwood ones which are made from one piece of wood all together. This is perfectly fine for short term light kitchen uses.

Works very well and very sharp

This grater comes with a removable plastic cover which means I won't get cut when I reach for it in my junk drawer. It worked well for grating hard cheese and lemon rind.
