Store and lower directly on my car when needed
Just installed this today for my 63" long x 38" wide SportRack Vista XL cargo box. It mounted neatly on one 1/2 of the 16-ft wide garage on my 12-ft ceiling, in between the garage door opener and the left door rail above my Subaru Outback. It's smooth operation, seems solid and the weight of my cargo box is waaaaay under the max load of the pulley/rope system. It took me approx 2 hours by myself (12-ft ladder needed) and is slightly different than the ceiling mount bike rack that I installed a few years ago, but similar concept. Instructions were clear and I slowed down and studied the details along the way to ensure that I wouldn't have to go back and re-do anything once up. Patience is a virtue - Ha!Once installed with my cargo rack load, I then went back and forth a few times of pulling up/lowering down on my vehicle to get the strap adjustments just right, then trimmed all straps and rope for the final step.I'm quite happy with this and it solved several problems for me in my tightly packed garage. The garage is large and "finished" but there's a lot of necessary stuff in there, including 2 vehicles. Def recommend you buy this if you're looking for storage of your cargo top.

Excellent hoist for larger objects at a fair price
Excellent hoist and materials. If you’ve ever put up another similar hoist like a bike one this is slightly more complicated but nothing that won’t make sense. I found the instructions pretty clear with that knowledge. Took me about 30 min to put up. Again, I’ve installed 5 bike hoists twice and have a working knowledge of how they go up and how far apart to space them. It’s pretty cleverly designed. I used this on a Yakima Skybox 18 that’s nearly 96” long and it hoists it just fine. I don’t know that my wife could pull it up as it does require some muscle at that heft. I don’t need a 3 pulley hoist for this box since it’s not that heavy, just long. The two straps stay secure. I like the fact that the strap buckle is quality metal, the straps are made out of seat belt material (just thinner), and the buckles have a silicone sleeve so it won’t scratch whatever it’s holding and it has a holder for the excess strap. Great quality for the price. Would buy again.

Ehh...
This product didn't work for me. My studs were too far apart and do not

Quick and easy to get Thule off the ground
Got this overnight in a pinch when cleaning the garage was a hyperfocus and got it installed the next morning in about an hour. It was an easy install (easier if the ceiling isn’t 15’ high) and it works great! I did have to redo the rope once because I had it on the wrong side. Would recommend for something like our rooftop carrier we only use once in awhile.

Rooftop tent installation
Works like a charm. A little harder to lift but we have gotten a wench to help with that.

Works best in a tall garage otherwise you may bump it with your head.
The instructions were a bit vague but after reading them and studying the diagrams I I understood. The instructions were clear that anchoring the pulleys in the ceiling rafters was critical. My cartop box is middle size and therefore not too heavy but pulling it up requires some strength. My garage is tall so the bottom of the cartop box is above the man door. This was the perfect solution for my situation.

Needs high ceilings and lock mechanism is annoying
It doesn't go high enough. I have lower ceilings (about 8- 9 ft) in my garage. At the highest point, my car top carrier will probably be a foot from the ceiling. The pulley can't go any higher. Additionally, you have to pull one way then move to a completely different side and pull horizontally from height to lock the pulley. I feel like this could work for higher ceilings but the mechanism would still be annoying.

Have a roofbox and garage? MUST HAVE!
This product worked great for hanging our roof box. One thing to note, which could be a benefit for some, is that the string is quite long—some people may choose to cut it to fit their needs. Mounting was easy; just follow the instructions and the helpful YouTube video. I particularly appreciated how it provided a convenient storage solution for our roof box. For those with a garage, storing it on the ceiling is the ideal option, as it keeps the box out of the way and makes use of space that would otherwise go unused. Definitely a 5-star product!
