Perfect traction on ice
EcoTraction literally is that, traction. I don't like using ice melts of any sort, most just melt holes in the ice and it's still slippery or they create a greasy mess, so I decided to try this. Spread it on the ice and it's like the ice isn't there. It adheres to the ice instead of melting thru it and creates a surface safe to walk on. It's great on my concrete steps, my wooden deck, and my driveway. This may seem pricey, but I've found that once the area I spread it on dries, I can sweep it up and use it again!

Excellent and Safe Product.
EcoTraction requires very little to do a great job. Doesn't damage your steps or the environment or your pets. Highly recommend it. We had a small glacier on our steps this winter from snow melting off the roof during the day and freezing on our steps overnight. Only EcoTraction made navigating the steps possible.

I like this product for what it is
I like this product for what it is, however, there are a few things I would have liked to have understood better when I purchased it. I did a search for ice melt and this popped up. It IS NOT ice melt. If you need to melt sheets of thick ice, this will not be the correct product for you. I have been using it in conjunction with ice melt and the results have been good, but somewhat interesting. This stuff is completely indestructible. Whereas kitty litter provides traction until it dissolves into a mushy mess, this stuff withstands moisture and only changes color when wet. It doesn't track a lot, which is definitely a plus, and does provide good traction, when applied liberally to a patch of ice. I expect to be outside with a broom sweeping it up when Spring finally arrives, but that is fine because it stays where I put it and eliminates the need to reapply. The one problem I have encountered, because it has no ice-melting capabilities whatsoever, is that when the temperature rises and some of the standing snow and ice melts, and then re-freezes, it gets buried under a new sheet of ice. This means more product does need to be applied on the new ice and when it melts again there is a huge patch of product on the sidewalk. This cycle needs to be repeated each time there is a thaw and refreeze. My routine, and I would suggest you follow it if you do buy this stuff, is to apply ice melt to dissolve some of the ice and then apply this. Or, for subsequent patches of ice, apply ice melt, and when the ice and snow do melt, you will find this already underneath.I have bought this twice so far in the past few weeks, and am happy with the results, but would not recommend this as the only product you use. Buy the 25 lb. bag of Snow Joe Environmental Blend along with it and you will be good to go.

It should also be better for the landscaping when you eventually wash it off ...
This does exactly what it says it does: It gives you traction on the ice. Mind you, you'll end up with a version of mud when you're done, but it's *grippy* mud instead of slippy mud. It should also be better for the landscaping when you eventually wash it off the walk/drive. The difference in traction was immediately noticeable when put on ice. This can help buy you time while other products work to melt the ice. I think to go as far as they say it would though would take an actual spreader instead of relying on just the jar cap. I found I went through it faster than expected as the jar had a tendency to pour. Maybe I just didn't have the shake down right. But once did it absolutely worked.

Great for traction
I don't like using chemicals on my sidewalk and driveway, but I do want traction. This fits the bill!!

Excellent grip even in cold weather
This does not melt the snow like some other products, but in colder weather where the ice is not melting, this stuff offers excellent traction. So depending on conditions I use this or Safe Paws (another excellent product) if my goal is to melt ice. At my house, though, when we have warm days, the snow will melt and since the Safe Paws dissolves, it just washes away in some spots, whereas the EcoTraction stays in place and is super grippy. Also, no nasty chemicals to hurt the flower next to the walk.

Safe and it works!
It works. Kept me from falling on my keister. We have pets so I needed something that would be safe for them; some products either are not safe if pets ingest it or it burns paws... and Eco Traction seems to be safe on both counts. We also have new stained cement sidewalks. I will try to remember to update after a couple more seasons of using Eco Traction, but thus far there does not appear to be any damage whatsoever. I would recommend purchasing the jug for easy sprinkling, then getting the refill bags for a more economical price per ounce. Good stuff; get lots because it is light and will blow away in a strong wind so you will sometimes need to reapply.

Very Disappointing
Very Disappointing---the granules are very small and upon getting wet seem to merely turn into a dark sludge. I am looking forward to warmer weather so that I can hose the mess off my front steps.

This works great. Salts get messy and aren't too effective when it gets really cold. Eco traction gives great traction on ice. Definitely a great product
