Saint-Émilion: The Châteaux, Winemakers, and Landscapes of Bordeaux's Famed Wine Region

This book is clearly a French-to-English translation, with all the sometimes awkward phrasing that entails. It is also far from a deep expose on the wine scene in St. Emilion, being more of a puff-piece. All that being said, the photography is beautiful. It is, perhaps, the quintessential coffee table book. A guest can pick it up, read a few pages, flip through the photographs, and put it down without feeling deprived. Again, if you are looking for a deep analysis of the vineyards, owners, and chateaux of St. Emilion, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a large-format, beautifully photographed treatment you won't be disappointed.

Toured this area several years ago and this book certainly brought it all back to me. What a beautifully done book in every way. Makes me want to book a ticket right now and go back.
