A Step Up From Other Buckwheat
Excellent! I've purchased two bags. This is a step up from the other buckwheat I have tried and reviewed. How you cook it determines whether you get a sticky glob of mush or a delicious treat.I cook it similar to rice.Boil 1-3/4 cups of water, add 1 cup buckwheat to the boiling water. This method prevents them from becoming mushy.Turn the heat down, cover, simmer until the water is gone. I take the lid off, tilt the pot to see if any water comes to the side. When there is none, it's done. After the water is gone, remove from the heat. Let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Fluff with the implement of your choice. This makes it similar to rice, with the kernels separated, and a bit al dente, firm to the tooth.Great grain free substitute for rice or other grains. Buckwheat is technically a fruit seed, gluten-free and not related to wheat in any way. Also great for porridge/kasha and in scrambled eggs.To get a fuller, nuttier flavor, toast them first. The aroma and taste is amazing!Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Put a cup or two of groats in a dry, shallow pan, cookie sheet with sides, etc. Spread the groats thinly and evenly. Toast for 15 minutes. Stir them, return to the oven for another 15 minutes. You can also toast them in a dry pan on the stove top. Personally, I much prefer the oven method.Like roasting coffee, roast less time for a lighter taste, more for a strong taste. After 40 minutes or so they may burn. And no, I don't rinse them.Delicious!

Russian buckwheat is seriously the best
Really happy with this buckwheat. I got 2 and I’m already half way through the first one. It’s delicious, cooks in 10 minutes after water boils. Smells amazing and goes well with so many things. Will be getting more. I went to Whole Foods but they didn’t carry any buckwheat. Decided to order this Russian one on Amazon, and they are just another level of YUMMY.

BAD CHOICE
BEWARE - I ordered six pack, 3 out of 6 bags came torn, the box was full of a spilled buckwheat with an unpleasant smell. I am so disgusted that I do not even have a desire to contact the seller anymore.Look, the box was so over-wrapped with the scotch as if the packer new about the spillage! This brand of buckwheat was once popular. Well, looks like they started to cut corners on the wheat quality and proper handling. Now the grains have very distinctive smell, which tell me they were over-processed. Too bad, typical story.

Old and stale product
The buckwheat received was stale, produced 2 years ago and may present a health risk. This is my second order of this product, the first one was good. Did not expect the expired food product this time....The delivery was a bit late but OK, it was not urgent for me and now I have to throw it away anyway.
