This is the trick! Please read below
Surprised by so many negative reviews and I usually do not provide positive reviews, but I thought for the sake of fairness I would share my experience:I can imagine what others have considered as hard and it is almost inedible out of the box. What we need to do with this and similar products is just a little bit of heat and you would be surprised how incredibly it will change the texture and softness. I put it in the toaster for just a few minutes (at lower than 350 degrees Farenheit). I don't want to expose it to too much heat to damage the nutritional value and potentially create carcenogens. Still hard? Add a bit water to the bread's surface prior to toasting. Also, I keep these in the refrigerator until I use or toast. And the bonus: it's apparently rich in zinc and mangenese. Hopefully this will help.

Fantastic lightly toasted
My favorite gluten free choice for breakfast. I've been gf for many years, and excluding fresh bread from a now-closed local shop halfway around the world, this is my favorite gluten free breakfast item. I either eat them from frozen by popping them in the microwave for 30 seconds on each side, then toast twice at a 4 flipping between goes for even crispness. If they're in my fridge and thawed, I just do the double round in the toaster. This method ensures some chewiness and some evenly-dispursed crispiness. Maybe your toaster is better than mine and doesn't require the flip. I recently over-toasted my morning ritual, and can attest to those folks that complain about it being more like a hockey Puck. Less is more for these guys.

Don’t Be Fooled By Other Reviews
The reviews for this product are misleading. Yes, the English muffins are “hard” when you buy them. They need to be stored in the fridge. The way to make them actually edible is to bake them until they soften (not too high of a heat, not too long, not too short). Another way to soften them is to dab them with water before you bake it. The taste and texture is great for what it is. It is made out of quality ingredients and also tastes really good. It’s rare to find gluten free bread like this without canola oil, palm oil, corn starch, artificial flavoring. It’s super low calorie as well as low on fat. 10/10 would recommend!

Overpriced, but taken on own merits, they're great!
If you buy these English muffins with the expectation that they will be like Thomas' or another wheat based muffin, you probably are not going to like these. However, if toasted (they MUST be toasted or they will taste, like others have stated like a rock), they have a satisfying crunch and a yummy taste!I have tried most, if not all, of the other gluten free English muffins available (AVOID Glutino-just awful!).These are the best. Are they as good as "regular" English muffins? Absolutely not. However, if you don't have in your mind that this is going to taste like the wheat ones, they really are very good!I don't know about "hard as a rock" WHEN TOASTED. They ARE quite crunchy, and on occasion, can be too hard for my liking (if I toasted them for too long). I have not had that experience. Now as far as cost, I think they cost way too much.Part of the problem with "specialty" items, like "gluten free" is that they are produced on a much smaller scale and thus don't get the built in discounts of products made on a large scale. That said, I *still* think they cost too much. Thus, I don't have one every day. But, for me, they are a real treat, great with a little extra virgin olive oil and salt or peanut or almond butter or really, anything you would put on a "regular" English muffin.

YUMMY for GF folks
I've been gf for almost 30 years, before it was so prevalent. I've tried oh so many breads and muffins. These are my favorite. YES they are hard in the bag. They NEED to be heated. I toast them til a little brown on the edges and they are very good. YES they are a little chewier than a traditional english muffin, not really meant to make a sandwich (though I have but ingredients squish out a bit and I don't care.). I've even put them in the microwave for 30 seconds then toasted them...makes them a bit softer. Just experiment with what you like. I like these becase they are hearty, and delicious.

Heat with care
I have celiac and a bunch of other food allergies, so finding a bread-like product that doesn't make me sick is always a challenge. I decided to try these on a whim, though I was a little wary of all the negative reviews. As anyone on a strict gluten-free diet will attest, rice-based breads require a little TLC. Don't over-toast them, they may not turn a bit brown. If they are really dry, brush with some water and stick into a toaster oven or microwave before you put them in an actual toaster. They were so delicious. They're a little dense (as are all predominantly rice-flour things are, but they are amazing toasted with some dairy-free butter and jam. Will definitely put these in my regular rotation.

Love them!!
I am so thrilled to find these muffins that are gluten free, egg free, and dairy free. The list of ingredients is great and works well for my diet. I had my doubts when I defrosted one and went to cut it open, it felt very stale. But when I toasted it, I was very pleasantly surprised! I used one for a hamburger bun, too! I have been unable to find any other vegan gluten free bread out there.

You have to cook them correctly
I love these. They are the only english muffins I use for my breakfast sandwiches. You have to cook them a certain way or they will be hard. The secret it to microwave them just until they are defrosted. Toast slightly and butter on both sides of each half and then i put them in my breakfast sandwich maker and they come out perfectly.
