Made for modern light garage doirs
The instruction video is great. I recommend taking a lot of extra time to ensure the chain is fully straightened all along the chain links before completing putting the opening mechanism together and into the ceiling brackets (ask me how I know!!!).I had to get the garage doors spring tension adjusted to make the mechanism close properly as the safety opening feature kept kicking in to open the door each time. But after that it worked fine and still is after a month of use.The opening chain and chain cover to the holding brackets is 3 meters long - which is fairly standard - so it replaced exactly a very old opening chain/mechanism perfectly. If you are reasonably ok with DIY one person can put this together and up in about an hour.

Don't install until you have watched the topens video
The written instructions to assemble the chain drive mechanism are very poor. I could not work out how to put it all together.Watch the topens video on their website and all made clear how to do this and it all assembled. You need a clean ling space to assemble the chain drive mechanism. I used the garden path as cleaner than the garage. Before you link the chain check to make sure it is untangled, facing the right way round, and on the correct end. I had to unlink and relink it as it was not the right way round to catch the pull mechanism.

Big impact... But I still have questions...
This was literally the worst packaged, hardest to assemble, frustrating product I have ever bought through Amazon... but once I finally got it assembled it has made the biggest difference to how I can use my garage. For years I had a solid metal heavy double garage door on side springs that had to be heaved up to open the garage up. This was easier from the outside but quite stiff and cumbsersome from the inside. So much so that I frequently stored things anywhere but that garage because of the difficulty of opening and closing that door. Well now I can push a button - from inside or outside - and this opener effortlessly does all the work for me. For an older person it's a godsend. Because it plugs into a wall socket you can also simply switch off the socket and now the door is immobilised and not even utilising any electricity for standby. I can't imagine finding anything locally anywhere near this price point that would do the same job. In fact I'd have to call someone out so it would be $$.Now the bad. The package arrived with pieces all shoved into each other to save space. Unfortunately, for example, some of the chain guard pieces were wedged into each other wrong way round and took some effort - ie a hammer and screwdriver- to separate. Also the instruction manual is worse than anything I have ever got from a flatpack store. More than once I had something the wrong way round. Or I discovered I had to go back a step to go forward a step. I guess someone with a better initial intuition for how this mechanism works - something I did not initially have - would have realised the potential misteps sooner. So it is safe to say this took me a weekend to assemble start to finish. Some things to consider. If you have a guarage door that retracts upwards onto horizontal rails, the motor unit will sit slightly lower than your door rails if angled as per the guidance. This means that it might be closer to your head than you expect. Also for me it meant that the metal structs that came with the product, and that attach the motor unit to the ceiling, were too short. I had to use use metal banding to extend them lower. You will also need something to hang the unit from. The chain and guard length or fixed and it will require a little luck to have a roof joist right above the unit. Also you will want to consider where you will plug the motor unit into as you may well require an extension cord to get it to a power socket. Finally the bracket that attachs the unit to the door is fairly wide and you may want to consider where you will attach it to the door. I used some bats behind the doors metal collar to help with this. Some concerns. The chain guard was ever so slightly warped from the word go. The chain catches it slightly in the middle when it is circulating and so rattles. Is this a big deal? I hope not. And how tight to tension the chain? Because of the previous point I am not completely sure... I have it fairly tight though. And finally, although my garage door weight falls within the tolerance of the motor, I have some concerns about the bolts attaching the chain guard to the wall above the door. They have to tolerate a lot of force when the chain pulls on the garage door initially (you can see the chain guard flex). They do not seem big enough to me and look to be deforming at the bolthead already. I might consider replacing these with something bigger.

Functional, average documentation, excellent support 👍
I’ve had this just over a year now so can give decent feedback on it.I found the instructions pretty confusing. This was partly because I’m a basic DIYer and partly because the instructions aren’t written by native English speakers.Once fitted it worked flawlessly for about 9 months and then one day suddenly stopped. I emailed Topens who asked me to try a few things, which didn’t resolve the problem, and then promptly sent me a new PCB. Again, instructions were minimal but it was actually pretty straightforward to swap the PCB over, and the door is now functioning correctly. If you are prepared to figure things out yourself, you can save some money going with this option and be confident that if you do get stuck, you will get prompt support from the manufacturer.I haven’t tried other common brands like Chamberlain to compare but I would imagine their documentation is superior and there are likely more resources online of how to fit and trouble shoot.

Jobs a good'un
The actual actuator is very good, very nice. Very quiet in operation and looks nice enough in place. The assembly instructions were pretty easy to follow. I've marked it down because the channel which the chain runs through is a bit flimsy and can distort/buckle/flex a bit too much for me, maybe make it in two parts rather than 4. Also the generic button has too many buttons, that are not required. But it's running as expected and no dramas so far.

Customer Service
After the first few weeks of use, I experienced an issue with the garage door opener which failed to open and would not allow the remote to be reprogrammed. I contacted (Zack) at customer support who immediately provided me with a checklist to help diagnose the problem. It became apparent that the control (circuit) board had developed a fault and I expected this to be a major issue. I was reassured by Zack that a replacement part would be sent out and this was received within a day or so. I was reluctant to attempt this job as it appeared to be complicated but Zack reassured me that it was simply a case of unplugging the old component and replacing it with the new part provided. As a result my garage door problem was fixed in under an hour at no extra cost to me. Excellent customer service and I would strongly recommend this product.
