Shepherd Hardware 9489 1-1/2-Inch Rubber Swivel Plate Caster, 40-lb Load Capacity

I bought some of these casters to replace delaminated two-piece caster wheels on a mechanic's creeper. The original casters were firm but not hard - they lasted many years before they needed to be replaced. The axle on the Shepherd caster is a 1/4" x 20 pitch shoulder bolt, with a lock nut, allowing me to remove the wheels from the caster mechanism and use them on my creeper's existing caster brackets. The item description says they have soft rubber wheels, but this is far from accurate. These replacement wheels are extremely rigid (but hopefully not brittle), and produce an unmistakable "clink" noise when tapped with a wrench. They probably won't last long before cracking/breaking while rolling on a smooth concrete floor. Perhaps another reviewer received casters that had wheels made with a different composition, but what I received was of questionable quality and durability. They will likely be only a temporary solution while I seek better parts. These casters are inexpensive but they are not value I expected.

I used these on my “mechanics chair” I use in my garage. I can roll around on my chair with no problems now!! I removed the old crappy rollers and welded these to the bottom and they’ve worked perfectly.I highly recommend these.

After buying four of these for a heavy shelf unit, I've ordered two more sets. In fact, they work so well and go on so easy--plus they feel solid and move so smoothly--I want to put them on everything. They are small enough to hide on my file cabinet and shelf units so the units roll but you don't see casters.

Basically functional, but the holes through the wheels are off-center, making the item bounce up and down as it is wheeled across the room... I checked and 3 out of 4 of the casters I received all had their axle holes drilled off-center by a substantial amount. The wheels are also a somewhat cheap plastic that looks like it will easily crack or break... I had expected hard rubber. Grrr.

These are excellent wheels, the wheel part is hard rubber, which is way better then soft rubber that has a tendancyto bend, they roll smoothly, and with ease. and are easy to install, and hold up well under weight withoutdifficulty, the price is low. The company shipped them out fast and I got them fast, I will buy from them again

We purchased these for installation on the bottom of drawers under our platform bed. They do the job.

These fit ok on my clothes hamper.

These wheels do not seem to last as long as similar wheels found at the big box stores.
