This stuff is great!! I'd always wanted to use a self tanner, but didn't want to get one from the drugstore with all those icky chemicals. I've used ECO Tan on-and-off for a few years now, and am so glad it's around. It's great to have a self tanner option that you know is very safe to use and not full of crap like most other self tanners out there. It comes out a smooth creamy texture with a light peachy hue, and goes on quite evenly. Exfoliate beforehand all over your body. Rub some regular lotion on your palms before you begin applying so the tanner doesn't stain your hands too much. Apply in smooth circular motions, rubbing the tanner in completely and being careful not to leave any streaks. Skip your toes, heels, and elbows. Those will get more orange. You'll get better and better each time you do it. You can sleep in it and it won't stain your sheets or your clothes! It has an interesting scent, kind of like a light curry. It's not bad, though! Get a good 40 winks and the next morning you'll have a lovely sunny glow. I have semi fair skin / olive in some parts (Irish and Italian) and it comes out a bright golden. Lasts a week or so (which compared to what I've read is very good for self tanners). Overall, I'd buy this every week if I had the cash!

I am a pretty pale person (not translucent skin or anything, but I am naturally very, very white) with pink/red undertones. I don't tan easily, and tanning outside or in tanning beds left me too concerned with the risk of skin cancer and premature aging. I decided to look for a higher quality self tanner than the typical drugstore products, as many of these 1) take a long time to develop a minimal amount of color, 2) tend to look very orange, and 3) make my sensitive skin breakout (I've struggled with awful acne that is/was dermatologically treated, and has recently calmed down a bit since reaching my twenties).I purchased this product after reading many positive reviews, and I liked that it is supposedly organic. I figured it would make it less harsh on my skin with repeated use in terms of acne. I was also interested in the fact that it is supposedly less orange than many products, as well as giving more color in a shorter period of time. The first time I used this, I was a little over-zealous. I didn't look at any tutorials for applying self tanner, as well as not using a mitt/gloves. It did not end well, to say the least. This product by itself is too dark for my light skin, and left my arms and legs VERY dark orange. It also dries very quickly, so it was splattery/splotchy on my hands and feet. Maybe it's just me, but I had forgotten that my skin absorbs products like this really unevenly. With a relatively even application, my arms and legs turned out much darker than my stomach, chest, neck, and back. The reviews were somewhat inconclusive in terms of the smell of this product, but let me assure you, it does not smell good. It doesn't smell awful straight out of the bottle, a little chemically, but after a few hours (when the tanning agent starts to take effect) it smells very strongly of DHA. One of my roommates told me I smelled like soy sauce, not knowing I had on self tanner.I recognize that my initial review of this isn't exactly positive, but after using this for a few months I've figured out what works for me, and I am pretty happy with it. Being as light as I am, I started mixing it with a neutral moisturizer (about a 1:1 ratio), so that this product is about half the strength. I've been a lot happier with the color, and it makes it go on easier (it doesn't dry as quickly, and it absorbs more evenly to my hands and feet). Since my neck/chest area accepts so little color, I apply the product straight (not mixed with moisturizer) to these areas, and it turns out even with everything else. I've also been using both latex gloves and a mitt, which you definitely need for this product. It does stain things a little (even when mixed with the moisturizer), so make sure to wear darker clothes and sleep on non-white/light linens (or least something that can be easily washed). I find that it is easiest to apply this right after a shower before bed, and to rinse off quickly in the shower the next morning to get rid of the smell. I'll also note that I've been pretty impressed with this product in the way that it has not given me any additional acne, it seems to work well for sensitive skin, and I appreciate that it is strong enough that you don't need to apply it every day (2x per week if you don't work out/sweat often, maybe 3-4x if you do).Overall, this product has been able to give my normally pale/pink skin a nice golden (if ever so slightly orange) glow, hasn't caused additional breakouts, and has made me feel more comfortable wearing short sleeves/shorts in warmer weather. Hopefully this review isn't too long, but I wanted to be thorough since this product is on the pricier side.

After doing some research on tanning lotions that don't contain harmful ingredients I came across Eco tan. I would have to say this is by far the best tanning lotion. I've tried so many companies that had different lotions or mousses and none compare to Eco tan. Application was wonderful, just like putting on regular lotion. After applying it at nighttime the next morning my tan looked great ! No orange color, streaks or blotches on my skin. Exfoliating a day before is important. I have pale skin and the color came out beautiful. Feels good to know that I am using a product that doesn't have harmful ingredients that are also organic too. Once I placed the order within that same week I received my product. Very happy with the company, delivery time and product. I have already recommended it to many. Purchasing from carbon beauty was so easy. I tried purchasing it through the original company that makes the product and the payment wouldn't go through for some reason, possibly because there was either something wrong at the time with website or bc it's based in Australia. What ever the case may be, once I searched it on amazon I found it by carbon beauty and everything went through without a problem. Great doing business with company and completely satisfied with my great tanning lotion. Definitely would purchase again !

I spent a lot of time these last couple years looking for a clean or clean-ish and effective self-tanner. This is my favorite! It doesn't have that toxic perfume fragrance that most self tanners have. It does have a very slight odor... nothing horrible, but I'd apply it the night before a special event and then shower. It goes on very nicely and evenly. I didn't get any major smudges or dark spots, but I did also do a quick wipe down with a towel to ensure I'd not missed anything. I also washed my hands, and then brought any remaining moisture down my hands to avoid a line. Overall, I'd say this product is very user/beginner friendly. I also loved the color... more brown than orange.

I purchased this product because it is all natural and organic, and I won't use the drugstore brands anymore. I was super excited and possibly expecting it to be magical for the price, but I am fair skinned and should have bought the winter skin one. I didn't realize this until after my first application left me looking quite orange. But on someone with an olive complextion I'm sure it would look great! It does have a tanning cream odor, and I would highly recommend the application glove as it stained my palms immediately.
