Rainy day read
It was raining yesterday. It was also cold so I stayed in my jammies all day. On days like this I Crave a good romance. The sappy, steamy, sweat inducing type. Had the weather not called for a book like this I don't think I would have liked it. I am not a big fan of the twilight series and It was A LOT like twilight..Here is how:Megan is the new girl. She makes a good five friends instantly on her first day of school. She has the mysterious sexy boy, that all the girls want but haven't been able to pull, tripping all over himself to stay away. Then the attraction becomes to unbearable to ignore and within two weeks they are inseparable.I enjoyed it the other night, reading next to my cloud darkened window, huddled in my blankets, steaming hot coco next to my bed. It was a great addition to my day. It added a touch of romance ambiance to my already comfy atmosphere. I do have a few complaints about this book. The author seemed to pile a WHOLE lot of information in just a few chapters. If a reader of this blog was to ask me to explain the paranormal dynamics or genetics that the author mentioned I would stare at them dumbly because It was kind of just shoved at me in the pretense of a conversation between characters. Nothing really stuck. I understood there was four people with powers, each controlling a different element. That was about it really. There is this whole explanation about breeding to make Marked children, royal blood, the Order, the Council, and The Knox. I was overloaded and after the chapter ended I felt my head spinning. On the other hand, I found the descriptive scenes were the Marked used their powers were the best parts. I would LOVE to have powers like that. My favorite would be Air because Air can control EVERYTHING in a way.(Now that I think about it this book reminds me of Avatar the last air bender. Like that might be where the author got her inspiration and then took the idea and petted and tweaked it till it became her own.)Now back to the romance. It was sappy but for some reason I really liked the love scenes. The romance was the center of the story, The rest of the book including the paranormal bits, mere side stories."Their love was meant to be.... But Megan is about to discover that her feelings for Adam are tied to a fate that was sealed long ago..." (taken from the overview)That part right there isn't explained. From what I've read, their relationship wasn't predicted. No one but the two of them saw it coming. Also when The Order finds out they are a couple it causes panic. The Marked Ones together "intimately" can cause a world catastrophe. The most it explains is the elements are drawn together for some reason and that their feelings for each other may just be the pull of there elements being drawn to each other. To me at least that does NOT sound like there love is meant to be. It sounds like their love is a mistake. As for the characters, I found them a tiny bit flat. I didn't like the cheesy way they all acted toward each other. I mean who really acts like that? Between the couple, it was a given but the general chumminess between every one else seemed fake to me. My favorite character was the older brother Rian. He was the swoon worthy, motorcycle riding, dangerous one. His element was fire and when he would use it his eyes would glow. He also seem to give off the troubled teen vibe. Through out the book I was thinking 'Tell me again Why We want Adam???'All in all, I did enjoy this book. I will be buying the sequel and setting it aside for another rainy afternoon.

Beautifully Written
I have been anxious to read this book for a while now. Sometimes when you read a synopsis of a book, and you just know that your going to love it.. That's how it was for me with Carrier of the Mark. I have always been fascinated with elements. I think this is in part, due to my love of video games. Especially the RPG ones, that follow a story. The mages were always my favorite characters to play. I mean, who doesn't want to wield lightning bolts, or set your opponent on fire. So liking this book was a given for me.However, I always go into a book with moderate expectations, for fear of building up hype and being disappointed. There was no need with this book though. It had everything I was looking for. Romance, suspense, magic and so much more. My only complaint is that it's over, and now I have to wait a long time for book two. It will be worth it.The characters were very likable. I loved Megan. She was adorable. Adam was pretty great to. They had awesome chemistry together. There were a couple hot smoldering scenes I will be reading again. lol. I think I was most infatuated with Rian though. I would have like to bring him home with me. There was just something about him. So sexy. One of my favorite things about the Carrier of the Mark is the descriptions. I have always wanted to go to Ireland. Reading this, I felt like I was there. That's not the only descriptions Leigh wrote well. The use of magic/elements was told wonderfully. I find with some of the books I have read, when a scene like these are written out, they can come off as a bit awkward depending on the Author. Not the case here. Her writing was so vivid, I could see every second right from my couch. One of my favorite scenes was the Moth scene. I won't get into detail, because I'm not all about spoilers. I have seen a few other reviewers talk about this scene as well. It was so beautiful. I loved every single element scene. I want my own element to control!I don't want to talk everyone's ear off, so I will end this soon. If you like magic and romance, and just a story that makes you feel great when your reading it.. this is the book for you! I highly recommend it. I cannot wait until it comes out, so I can revisit some of my favorite parts.here is a trailer I made for it if your interested in seeing :) [...]

The Irish Banana Review
I have been clamoring to read this book ever since I heard it was set in Ireland. Little know fact? I'm Irish. In case you were wondering, that's where the "Irish" part of my blog name comes from. Plus I heard it had an awesome romance in it, toss in that stunning cover, and needless to say I had this one pre-ordered months before it came out so I could get it in my hands the day it came out. I am happy to announce Leigh Fallon knocked it outta the park in her debut. The story drew me in from the beginning. There was something about Megan that I just fell in love with. She has wit, tenacity, and vulnerability in spades. I loved discovering Ireland with her, and the writing was so descriptive and lush I felt like I was right there with her. Fallon artfully describes the setting so much that it almost made Ireland a character. I love when a writer can transport me to a place I only dreamed of, only to blow my dreams away. What can I say about Adam that hasn't been gushed over by blogger's all over the world? He's, simply put, amazing and the ideal YA boyfriend. Dark, mysterious, loyal, and heartbreakingly loving. My only complaint was I almost got whiplash by how quick he and Megan fell in love, but that I easy to overlook because they are just magic together. The entire DeRis family pulled me in, and I cannot wait to read more of them in the next book! Why is it that the hardest reviews to write are about the books you love? That's how I feel about this one. It's sweet and exciting and addictive. With this smashing novel, Fallon has reserved space on my bookshelf for all time. If she writes it? I'll be getting it, and you should, too!

Grundsätzlich nettes Buch, Ende bleibt leider sehr knapp gehalten

Really great story! I love the second book of the ...
Really great story! I love the second book of the series too, but the author has not finished the series so that is unfortunate. Highly recommend reading it!
