Beautifully illustrated comics seires
This will be a cookie-cutter review of the Manifest Destiny trades I purchased.I’ve been reading and following Manifest Destiny comics since they first came out. I enjoyed the novel take on the Louis and Clark story with the supernatural twist, but what truly makes these comics stand out is the artwork. Matt Roberts is an extremely talented artist, capable of not only illustrating some unique full page scenery that provides seconds of eye candy, but then he’s also able to go straight into a closeup of character’s eyes, or their smile, with missing out on the details. He should seriously consider opening up some kind of e-shop to see poster size copies of some of his cover art or centerfolds.I like these comics so much, that this review is actually for a second set of comics I purchased to share with my nephews who recently got into the medium. They’re older and picky in whet they like to read, but I got nothing but glowing reviews from them over editions I bought them.I have no issue recommending these comics, or any other illustrated by Matt Roberts. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Great art and story, unique.
Characters are well defined with supernatural and freaks of nature elements. Different kind of story but compelling.

liked it.
liked it. interesting monsters. would have loved it more if it was not all slash and burn. i would have stopped the mission and made everything a protected area.. and turned the whole thing into a scientific mission..

Love it
Love this series. I got into it a bit late so a graphic novel is a great way to catch up. Love the concept of Lewis and Clark traversing a hostile early America (by this I mean monsters, monsters and more monsters). Great story telling and art as well. On a side note I was able to find back issues at Midtown comics in New York so now I'm all caught up.

Had read an early single comic in this series a couple years ago and this continued the great artwork and storyline I remembered - reminds me a bit of the great EC Comics of the '50's, but more Sci-Fi and cerebral, with great characters and just the right amount of gore!

Five Stars
Fun "science fiction" presentation of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Fantasy based on the expedition.

Adventure awaits!!
Fantastic, love the adventure and creature designs. I like the characters and how each new challenge changes them. I'm fully on board with this series.

Excellente suite !
Un peu moins bon que le 1er volume, ce 2e volume est néanmoins excellent !Il y a quelques révélations dans ce volume, notamment sur certains personnages et le but de cette expédition.Une saga que j'apprécie et que je continuerai à suivre.

Stranded
Second volume in the series of paperbacks that collect issues of the comic 'Manifest Destiny.' Which tell the story of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804. Re-imagining it to show that they were under orders to deal with the very strange creatures they found out on the frontier. This collects issues seven to twelve of the comic, running them all together into one long narrative. Although you can easily tell where one issue ends and another begins. Some slightly adult moments and one use of strong language, plus a few gory images, mean that although it's not marked as a mature readers comic, it may not be that suitable for younger readers. This might just work as a jumping on point for those who haven't read volume one, but you might be better off starting with that to get the most from the series. The expedition is continuing on it's way, when their ship suddenly catches on something in the water. At the same time, an trip to shore runs into problems, and the group can't get back to their vessel. With half of the expedition stranded in the river and trying to free their vessel, and the other half facing various dangers on land, will they be able to survive?A very solid volume, and the series really starts to click here. Whereas the first volume didn't get to devote too much time to fleshing out the characters, it manages to do a lot of that this time around. Lewis gets to form an excellent partnership with Madam Boniface, as the two use science to try and solve things. Whilst Clark is a strong leader of those onload. The narrative jumps back and forth between the two groups, and this has the effect of making it pretty pacy. There is a great sense of jeopardy at times as well, particularly for those on the shore. This covers five of the six issues in this volume. The sixth moves the story on further, and here you get some interesting exposition to fill in some of the blanks, and the past of the two leads. Plus there are fascinating hints of some bigger plotlines going on. Which will leave you intrigued as to what happens next with those.A really good continuation of a very good series. Looking forward to book three.
